Founded in 2002, St. Andrew’s Performing Arts
Series (SAPAS) is the outgrowth of a series of community concerts hosted
by St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
Jonathan English began the venture in the fall of 2002 with a pair
of vocal duet and quartet evenings.
A full concert season of seven performances was presented in
2003-2004. In the spring of 2004
Patricia Griffin assumed the role of Artistic Director, and she has again
planned an exciting and varied sixth season of performances.
Our audiences will
discover not only seasoned performers as part of this series, but
extraordinary young performers as well.
We are committed to recognizing, nurturing, and presenting talent in
all its forms - from the world-traveled professional, to the emerging
artist next door - all brought together to provide our audiences with performances
that engage, challenge, and entertain.
Foremost SAPAS is a champion of the live
performance experience. Be it vocal,
instrumental or choral music, or the spoken word, there is a profound magic
that exists between artist and live audience. We dedicate this series to bringing that
magic - that experience - to our listeners.
We are continually
grateful to the Wellesley Society
of Artists for encouraging its members to exhibit their works in
conjunction with our concerts. This
year’s presenters: Nan Rumpf, Greg Dolnikowski, Paula DeMarco, Evelyn
Bernal, Yale Nicolls, and Joan Onofrey will display oil paintings, acrylics,
water colors and collages.
The combination of visual and performing artists will provide for
an artistic dimension unique to SAPAS.
Saint Andrew's
Performing Arts Series (SAPAS) is a non-profit, non-denominational
performing arts organization in Wellesley MA.
SAPAS is funded in part through the Mass Cultural
Council.
